AUTHOR VISIT
After a lively morning sharing what inspires me to write, and working with the talented artist who created puppets adapted from wayang kulit, with Primary 1 students in the school library, I was delighted to visit a class after the sessions, and learn that Just a Little Mynah inspired students and teachers to create and perform a multilingual story about friends in a Singapore forest. They shared a recording, and I met the actors! Another class was inspired to share everyday words they see in their neighbourhood in their own mother tongue languages.

A multi-lingual storytelling session with Just a Little Mynah highlighted themes of perseverance and cooperation.
It was followed by a mini readers theatre where students were guided to perform a segment of the story in English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil.
Some things students learned:
The joy and value of being able to speak more than one language, the confidence to express themselves, how to work together to tell an action-packed story.
This programme was co-presented by Words Go Round 2021 and Closetful of Books.
